Tales in Toronto.

I am so grateful to have gotten the chance to be in Toronto and guess how long we got? Seventy seven hours! Not going to lie to you the flight over was kind of a nightmare, but I kept chanting in my head ‘ Think of the destination, think of the destination ‘. We got there eventually.

After a long sixteen hours, we dragged ourselves out of the aircraft and onto the coach that took us to the hotel. Unfortunately I went there during winter and oh my god it was the coldest that I’ve ever experienced to date. None of the layers of clothing that I had on me were enough.

But it didn’t stop us from exploring as much as we could. All the crew were excited so we all came down to reception and the lady told us that there was a hockey game on tonight and tickets weren’t that expensive.

I had never watched a hockey game in my life so wasn’t jumping at the opportunity, but thought what the heck and joined in. It was Maple Leaves VS Vancouver, so to join in with the spirit one of the crew and I went to the Maple Leaves store and bought matching jerseys and beanies.

The game was so exhilarating and unexpectedly fun and I enjoyed it so much. The music and lights brought it all together and after a few drinks we enjoyed ourselves even more. After a few drunk fights and quick breaks the game was over and the Maple Leaves won!

I was stoked that I didn’t spend over a hundred dollars for nothing.

We then went back to the hotel and had probably the best sleep I’ve had in a very longtime.

Next morning we woke up nice and early for breakfast downstairs in the hotel and it was scrumptious, so many fresh berries and yoghurt. Yummy. We had rented a car and decided to drive down to see the infamous Niagara Falls and I was so ready for it.

The drive over was so much fun and we stopped numerous times to take random photos on highways and train tracks, ( ideas from yours truly ). As we turned into the car park adjacent from the falls, all the girls started screaming with excitement and we leaped out of the car to re layer ourselves with clothes.

Now I have watched movies with the Falls in it and so my expectations were really high, and don’t get me wrong the sounds of the water crashing onto the rocks below and the mist that forms below was breathtaking but it wasn’t as amazing as I thought it would’ve been. But hey, that’s just my opinion. I guess it’s like anything, if you hype it up too much it usually won’t meet your expectations.

The ice cold wind was a killer and as much as I wanted to take lots of photos, just the thought of taking my gloves of was not ideal for me.

We stayed around long enough for nightfall and it was totally worth the wait. All the colourful lights that lit up the Falls was exceptionally beautiful and it was probably my favourite time to see the Falls.

We came back to the hotel and settled in for a good nights sleep and the next morning had the amazing buffet breakfast again and took a stroll down the street to find this Christmas Market everyone was talking about.

After a quick twenty minute walk we found it and it was one of the best Christmas Markets I has ever been too. The smell of warm wine and freshly cooked corned beef wafted through the air and I instantly felt as if I hadn’t eaten yet. I also started to feel myself feeling homesick, as Christmas is always a time where I’m with Mum and Dad and I haven’t been able to celebrate it with them for a few years now. This is something I feel so bad about it. I miss them so much.

We spent a decent amount of time strolling around, tasting all different foods and lots of hot chocolates. We even got to take a photo with Santa and his elves!

Luckily we got back in time to have a quick nap before the long flight back to Dubai, and boy I sure needed it!

As cabin crew we are so used to running around, trying to see as many places as we can in a short amount of time so we tend to forget about what our body needs … that is sleep. So needless to say I can’t wait to land into Dubai and have a well earned rest in my own bed.

Thank you Toronto, you have been a layover to remember and we will see you soon!
