Crowded Chennai.

Hey everyone! I know it’s been a while since I’ve blogged but things have been really hectic both in Dubai and back home.

So it’s always been my dream to visit India just once to see how it is and a few months ago I got rostered a Chennai flight and did just that.

The crew hotel was absolutely breathtaking and seemed like something out of a movie with a huge marble staircase, attentive staff and the softest carpet I’ve ever walked on. My heels were literally sinking in.

There was no question about whether I would leave the hotel to go sightseeing or not but a lot of the crew needed persuading.

After a few hours we all gathered in the lobby and got in the car and went. First stop was the market place and boy was it busy.

The title Crowded Chennai really fits because it was just crazy. You really have to exercise a huge amount of caution when crossing the main roads as you will get run over. Everyone stared at us like we were some type of aliens but not in a creepy way and whenever I smiled they would smile back. And then continue to stare.

I always loved how the woman had the white flowers in their hair, I’m not actually sure of the name but I think you know what I’m talking about. You know the ones that smell amazing.

So I approached a flower stall on the side of the market and asked the lady to place them in my hair just like they do everyday. She did it in like one minute and it was so so pretty. I wore them all the way back to the hotel. I also couldn’t help but buy some seperate flowers just because they were some lovely.

Then myself and one another crew member ran off to find some bindis to place on our forehead so we could look like the real deal.

I was walking back to the car and saw a bunch of local women sitting on some stairs outside of a mall, so I ran to them, sat down in the middle and got some incredible photos. Definitely the photo of the day.

We then went to a temple and met two little local girls who were sisters, they were incredibly sweet and were very interested in us so we got some very cute shots with them.

The temple was extodinary, full of intricate designs and colours, we found a lovely spot where the floor was covered in colourful patterns in circles and I really wished I could have something like that in my apartment in Dubai.

When we got back to the hotel most of the crew went straight up to sleep but myself and two other girls decided to hang out by the pool until 6pm when the dinner buffet would be open. It was the perfect way to unwind after a very fast paced day and the pool itself was so relaxing. I just love this hotel!

Overall Chennai is exactly how I thought it would be and I would definitely come here again for the food, the mangoes and the hotel itself.

Until next time, safe flying!
