Tasting Thai

So this isn’t something that I usually do but I decided to write about a lovely Thai Restaurant that I recently visited here in Dubai.

The name is Lemongrass Thai, which makes perfect sense because lemongrass is commonly used in Thai dishes to enhance and flavour the taste.

The restaurant is located in four different locations around Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi. We visited the Oud Metha restaurant and we were not disappointed.

We were traditionally welcomed by the Thai ‘Sawadee’, and greeted with a warm smile by P Woonsen and the other staff.

We were then escorted to our table for two by the window and we immediately loved the surrounding decor. Traditional Thai artworks with woven lamp covers, it was perfectly done to perfection to make you feel like you were in Thailand.

We visited during the month of Ramadan so we chose the Iftar package to break our fast. There is three different packages, Iftar Seafood Special, Iftar non-vegetable Special or Iftar vegetable Special. We chose the Non vegetable special.

The prices of Iftar packages range from 129 to 169 dirhams in total.

Our menu consisted of complimentary dates and still water,  homemade lemon grass tea,  crunchy prawn crackers, Satay Gai, Tom Yum soup, Som Tum Thai, Gang Kiew Waan, Pad Krapao Gai or Neau, steamed jasmine rice and Gluey Tod for dessert.

Sounds like alot of food right? Indeed it was!

I won’t mention every dish that we went through, so you’re just going to have to try it yourself but I will say that overall is was a delightful experience.

I myself am from a Thai background and so I wouldn’t be supporting such an establishment if I didn’t really believe that the food was good.

The Homemade Lemongrass Tea is so sweet and subtly sour, which washes down all that heat from the food, the peanut sauce from the Satay Gai was to die for and the dessert … banana fried in a sweet batter and then drizzled with sweet syrup and icing sugar, how do you think it was? So delicious guys!

Go check them out at a store near you and let me know what you think of your experience. If you would rather eat at home then you can order online at their website lemongrassuae and if you are a cabin crew like me don’t forget to show your Platinum or Face card to receive a discount!
