Back in Bangkok

There is something about the smell that welcomes me in Bangkok that is significantly attached to my childhood memories of living there.

It could be the distant smell of cooking oil, maybe the everlasting pollution … Whatever it is, I love it and it brings a smile on my face every single time without fail.

I hadn’t been to Bangkok for so long and so I was eager to re stock my fridge and pantry with my Thai vegetables, fruit and other ingredients. And as soon as I landed that is what I did.

I always go to a fresh market that is walking distance from the hotel and get my green mangoes and other asian fruits from there. Sometimes I’ll get some snacks and other nibblies if I’m feeling hungry.

My absolute favourite fruit is green mangoes, in Thai we call them ‘ Mamuang Kiew Saweuy’, and they are just to die for, crunchy yet still sweet they are the perfect go to snack.

I also love rambutan, purple mangosteen, guava and longan. I also stocked up on all of these. 😉

An absolute must buy on my list is a vegetable called Cha om, it is a green vegetable that scares people away by its strong and unpleasent smell, although for me it doesn’t smell at all. But hey, I think the same of Durian! I fry it with eggs and it is so good with plain jasmine rice and some chilli paste.

After my shopping errands I had a quick three hour nap and woke up to try out a massage at Infinity.

I will be writing a seperate review about my experience there so stay tuned for that.

The flight back and going was a busy one but always enjoyable and I got to fly with my lovely friend who i flew to Kuala Lumpur with P Fon, ( Tanya ) and another Thai colleague P Luck.

I cant wait to go back to my second home again and hopefully that is very soon!

Until next time Sawadee Ka xxx

Yes,in the Philippines, this fresh fruit during summer grows in our own backyard, we just wait for our trees to bear fruits ,ripe , pick/harvest and ready to eat….Home is where you become who you are truly meant to be and where you can be who you truly are.

I love your blogs so much I always feel like I’m in the places you always describe in your blogs. And I really need to know the recipes for those snacks you were talking about and other Thai foods.

    Lots of love ❤️
