Happy belated Mothers Day to all those celebrating this weekend!
As most of you know my Mum has been in Dubai since the beginning of May and so for Mothers Day I decided to book her a surprise one night stay in dusitD2 kenz hotel here in Dubai.
We checked in during the late afternoon and was welcomed by the lovely reception staff Ahmed and Sharon who told us everything we needed to know about our stay and the hotel facilities.
We were on the 13th floor and had the D’ Sire Suite which has a marvellous layout that really adds to the spacious interior.
The D’ Sire Suite includes a walk in dressing room, bedroom, en suite bathroom with a walk in shower, bath tub and 2 wash basins. The lounge room is separated from the bedroom with a sliding door for that little touch of privacy.
There is also 2 widescreen televisions, one in the bedroom and one in the lounge room with a wide range of movies and international channels to enjoy.
When we entered the room there was an adorable bowl of fruits and assortment of arabic sweets that awaited us on the dining table. Mum and I tucked into those straight away. ><
The D’ Sire Suite has all the hotel necessities and amenities that one would need during a nights stay including a French press coffee maker which I fell in love with and a beautiful blue prayer mat and English translated Quran for those who may have forgotten theirs at home.
We quickly got changed and then received a reminder call about our massage appointment at D’ Stress Spa at 5pm.
The D’ Stress Spa offers their hotel guests the chance to be pampered from head to toe so that they can relax from a long day at work and feel rejuvenated.
And that is exactly how Mum and I felt after our one hour long Aromavedic massage. It was Mums first massage in Dubai and she was very impressed, not to mention completely relaxed and at ease.
Once we finished our massage we went through a seperate door to the swimming pool area which is located on the 17th floor.
Complete with sun beds and a wonderful view of Dubai’s infamous skyscrapers, this is one stop you do not want to miss while staying here.
Numerous photos later we ended up back in our room and got ready for our dinner which was reserved at 7:30pm at Wise Kwai, a funky and unique Thai restaurant that serves a variety of Thai street food delicacies that will immediately transport you to the Land of Smiles.
Mum and I ordered four different dishes and all came beautifully presented and wonderfully flavoured. My Mum is actually a Thai chef and so it can be hard to impress her especially when it comes to her own cuisine, but she enjoyed every morsel of every dish and so did I. The staff are incredibly friendly and the colourful seating and fairy lights really make the restaurant a chilled yet vibrant atmosphere.
The next morning we woke up early for breakfast at Ostro which is on the ground floor of dusitD2 kenz.
Walking into Ostro is like walking into a white haven full of Zara Home Accessories. A woman’s dream come true. 😉
We were welcomed by a sweet Thai girl who sat us down at a table for two. We ordered our morning coffee and got up to choose from the buffet.
As expected there was a wide variety of choices from Arabic, Asian and your standard Western type breakfast.
We sat for a while and enjoyed our coffee before heading back upstairs to check out … just as we we got to our room the hotel staff knocked on our room door and presented Mum with a beautiful bouquet of pink roses and a delicious looking mocha cake for Mothers Day!
Mum felt so special and I can’t thank the hotel staff enough for making Mum feel so spoilt on Mothers Day!
Overall I really recommend this spot for anyone who is looking to stay in Dubai and wants something a bit more chilled and quiet than your other hotels, but still wants to be located close to downtown.
The D’ Sire Suite that we stayed in starts from 527 AED per night, ( excluding taxes and fees ).
Let me know in the comments below if you’ve been to Ostro or Wise Kwai before or stayed at dusit D2 kenz while here in Dubai!
